Welcome to Woman'sBack®! 🙋🏽

Sunscreen and Breast Cancer. What sunscreen do you have in your Woman'sBack?

When preparing to go out with our Woman'sBack these days, we must not forget our sunscreen. Odile Fernandez recommends in her blog, which can be the most appropriate so that, while we protect ourselves, we can choose the healthiest because, through the skin can be absorbed many toxic substances.

Odile recommends us photoprotectors with natural mineral sunscreens and that are certified organic, better in the form of lotion or cream. >

It also tells us what to avoid:

  • We should avoid creams in the form of aerosol and powder (they contain nanoparticles) A nanoparticle (nanopowder, nanoracim, or nanocrystal) is a microscopic particle with a dimension less than 100 nm that easily penetrates our skin. We must avoid them
  • Chemical filters. The following should be avoided completely: benzophenone-3 (Bp-3 or Oxybenzone), octyl-dimethyl-PABA, Homosalate, Octinosate (Octyl Methoxycinnamate) and Methyl-benzylidene camphor, Avobenzone, Mexoryl SX, Tinosorb M and Tinosorb can be used. Not recommended" chemical filters and retinol are used for formulation. Filters over 50 and total screens/extremes do not provide any benefit and increase the final price and number of chemicals needed for their manufacture. They should only be used by people with solar allergy.

Odile Fernández also comments that vitamin D plays an important role in the carcinogenesis process. To obtain it we must expose ourselves to the sun, since it forms in our skin which UVB rays come into contact with. We need our skin to absorb the sun's rays for at least 20 minutes a day to form vitamin D to help prevent cancer. This sun must be taken without protection, because otherwise the sun's rays cannot form vitamin D on our skin.
